Title |
Charter of Sale by Patrick Hammiltoune of Lewingstoune and Eufame Setone, his spouse, with consent of John Cokburne of Clerkintoune, for his interest, whereby, in implement of a contract (dated at Linlythqw and Clerkintoune 26 May and 23 August 1604) entered into between them, on the one part, and Alexander, Earl of Linlythqw, Lord Lewingstoune and Callendare, on the other part, they granted to the said Earl and to Helenor Hay, his spouse, and the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment and the heirs male lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them, whom failing, to the lawful and nearest heirs male of the said Earl bearing his arms and name, and to his assignees whomsoever, their lands and barony of Lewingstone vizt:- (1) the lands of the town of Levingstoune, with the mains, "peill", manor-place, mill and mill lands thereof, and the lands of Staineburne, Breich and Carmondeins Eister and Wester, pertaining to the said Patrick in property, and (2) the lands of Cousland, Newwork, Park, and the 40 shilling lands of Breich pertaining to the said Patrick in tenandry lying in the barony of Levingstone and sheriffdom of Linlythqw: To be held a nobis de supremo domino rege for payment of the rights and services used and wont: With precept of sasine addressed to James Stewart, portioner of Strabrok. Witnesses, Alexander Lewingstone, apparent of Westquarter, Robert Martene, burgess of Linlythqw, William Lichtbodye, servitor of the said Patrick Hammiltoune, Andrew Ker, notary public, clerk of the sheriffdom and burgh of Linlythqw, Robert Ker, his son, Claud Hammiltoune, brother of the said Patrick Hammiltoune, and George Hay, brother of the said Earl.
