Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of John Robertoun, clerk of the diocese of Glasgow, notary public, narrating that John Hammiltoun in Newtoun gave sasine propriis manibus to Mr. Claud Hammilton, his son and heir apparent, and Issobell Hammilton, his future spouse, and the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment, and the heirs to be lawfully procreated between them, whom failing, to the heirs of the said Mr. Claud whomsoever, of (1) the 20s lands of Morganhauch lying between the lands of Newtoun on the east, the lands of Cambuslang on the south, the lands of Clydismylne on the west and the water of Clyid on the north, in the barony of Drumsargat and sheriffdom of Lanerk, (2) two merks of land of his lands of Newtoun extending to an eighth part thereof (occupied by the late John Hammiltoun, elder, his father) with the house and garden formerly occupied by the late Matthew Mader, sub-tenant of the said late John Hammiltoun, the Kill commonly called Mathers Kill, with the yard pertaining thereto lying at the east side of Newtoun, and the croft of the foresaid lands of Newtoun lying nychtbourdaill with the late James Mader and John Trumble, and (3) one-half of one-fourth part of Feildland of Newtoun commonly called Newallbrwme and Crammos (formerly occupied by the late William Mader and the late William Dunlope) lying between the Water of Clyid on the north, the croft of Newtoun on the south, the lands of Morganhauch on the west and the foresaid Fieldlandis of Newtoun on the east, within the barony and sheriffdom foresaid. Sasine was given in terms of the contract of marriage and of the granter's charter thereupon and under reservation of his own liferent. Done upon the ground of said lands on 15th October 1602 |
