Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of John Broun, clerk of the diocese of St. Andrews, notary public, following upon and narrating a precept of sasine (dated at Powfoullis 1 December 1599) by Archibauld Bruce of Powfoullis, whereby in implement of the terms of a contract of marriage (dated at Dunfermeling 13th September 1599) entered into between Robert Bruce, his son, and himself, on the one part, and Christiane Arnot, future spouse of the said Robert, on the other part, he commanded Johne Reid in Kincavill, his bailie, to infeft the said Robert and Christian, and the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment, and the heirs to be lawfully procreated betwixt them, whom failing, the said Robert's heirs whomsoever, in an annualrent of £160 Scots furth of the lands of Breich (pertaining to Patrick Hammiltoun of Levingstoun) under reversion of the sum of 2400 merks Scots to be held of the granter in blench farm for payment of 2d. yearly; Sasine given by the bailie upon the said lands to the said Robert Bruce and to Johne Michell, attorney for the said Christian Arnot, upon 8th December 1599 |

Witnesses to the precept Robert M............ servitor to Mr. Henrie Layng, minister at the Kirk of Airth, Johne Burne in Lairbert, and the notary. Witnesses to the instrument of sasine, Adame Frame in Breich, Andro Zettis in the Bentis, and Johne Clyd, servitor to the "guidwfe" in the Bentis. |
