Title |
Instrument of Resignation and Sasine under the hand of John Masoun, town clerk of Air, notary public, narrating that John Mure of Auchendrane, in implement of a contract (of even date herewith) entered into between him, on the one part, and Adam Johnestoun, burgess of Air, and Giles Fergushill, his spouse, on the other part, and in consideration of the sum of £1000 Scots paid to him, resigned one-half of his 20 shilling land of old extent of Twastanecroce with meadow and pertinents, which he now occupies and formerly had in tack, lying in the territory of the Burrowfeild of the burgh of Air, into the hands of Alexander Lokhert, one of the bailies of the said burgh, in favour of the said Adam Johnestoun and spouse, and the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment, and the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them, whom failing, the heirs and assignees of the said Adam whomsoever, to whom the bailie gave sasine accordingly; to be held of the provost, bailies and community of the said burgh for payment of eight shillings Scots yearly, viz:- three shillings for the one-half of the said twenty shilling land and five shillings for the one-half of the meadow. Done quoad the resignation in the lodging of Margaret Kennedy in the burgh of Air on 20th May 1598, and quoad the sasine upon the ground of said lands on 22nd May 1598 |
