Description |
Confirming: (1) Charter (dated at Paisley 11th April 1586) by Andrew Symple, son and heir apparent of Cuthbert Semple of Auchinbothie, with consent of his father, liferenter of the lands aftermentioned, whereby in implement of a contract (of the same date as the charter) he granted to Patrick Cunyghame, lawful son of the late William Cunynghame of Hakat and to Margaret Montgumrie, his spouse, and the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment, and to the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them, whom failing, to the lawful and nearest heirs of the said Patrick whomsoever, one seventh part of the lands of Watirland, Halkat and Hisilbank, extending to a 15s. 3d. land or thereabout of old extent, with one-seventh part of the mill, multures and sequels thereof, lying in the parish of Dunlope, bailiary of Cwnynghame and sheriffdom of Air: To be held a me of the King as prince and stewart of Scotland, rendering therefor the service of ward and relief: With precept of sasine addressed to John Hammiltoun, vicar of Dunlop.
(2) Charter No. GD86/311. Moreover the king for the good service of David Cunynghame of Robertland of new grants the said lands to him and to Jean Cunynghame, his spouse. The charter of confirmation is dated at Halyrudhous 14 February 1597-8Witnesses to first Charter confirmed, John Montgomrie, son of the late Robert Montgomrie of Skelmurlie, Hugh Montgumrie younger of Auchinhuid, Gilbert Dunlop, servitor of the said Patrick Cunyghame, John Vaus, notary and John Huchesoun, servitor of the said Cuthbert Semple. Witnesses to charter of confirmation, John, Lord Hammiltoun and Abirbrothok, George, Earl Marischall, Mr. James Elphingstoun of Barntoun, the king's Secretary, Sir Richard Cokburne younger of Clerkingtoun, keeper of the privy seal, Mr. John Skene, clerk of the register and council, Sir John Cokburne, of Ormestoun, knight, justice clerk, and Mr. William Scott of Grangemure, director of chancery.
