Title |
Instrument of Resignation and Sasine under the hand of John Masoun, town clerk of Air, narrating that Robert Cwninghame, son of the late Charles Cwninghame, burgess of Air, procreated between him and Margaret Wallace, his spouse, in consideration of a certain sum of money, resigned an acre of land formerly the property of William Wallace in Quhytehous lying in the middle portion of the Sands of the burgh of Air, between an acre of land, the property of the late Alexander Cwninghame formerly of the said William Wallace, and now of William Rysyd, on the south, and an acre of land formerly the property of the late Archibald Fergushill now of William Roger on the north, into the hands of Adam Johnestoun, one of the bailies of the burgh of Air, in favour of John Knycht, mariner, burgess of Air, and Mariot Richie, his spouse, under reservation of the liferent of Margaret Wallace, his mother; and that the bailie thereupon gave sasine of said acre to the said John Knycht (by the hands of Patrick Richie, his attorney) and to Mariot Richie (personally present and accepting) and to the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment and to the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them whom failing to the heirs and assignees of the said John whomsoever; to be held of the provost bailies and community of the said burgh in feu farm for payment yearly of 12 pence Scots. Done upon the ground of said acre on 11th May 1596 |
