Instrument under the hand of Sir John Mordosone, presbyter of the diocese of St. Andrews, notary public, narrating that Sir Duncan Fairny, chaplain and curate of the parish church of Ochtergawine, compeared at the high altar of said church at the time of high mass and publicly proclaimed that a marriage was to be contracted on 10th September between Gavin Lewingstone of that Ilk and Mariot Crehttone, daughter of James Crehttone of Carnis, knight; and firmly commanded all and sundry who knew of any impediment to the said marriage to make it known publicly and to the said parties under peril of their souls by the 8th of September. Further, narrating that Sir Duncan on the 10th of September first proclaiming that the said marriage was to be contracted, married the said Gavin and Mariot publicly et in facie ecclesiae antedicte about 10 o'clock in the forenoon, no one alleging any impediment thereto.
