Title |
Letters of Horning under the Signet of King James VI, addressed to Nicholl Newall, narrating that it was shewn by Margaret Cairnis, lady Orchartoun, spouse of Edward Maxwell of Tynwald, and the said Edward for his interest, that Johnne and David, sons of the late James Scott, in Dergavill, and Bessy Carrutheris, their mother, were on 18th May denounced as rebels and put to the horn for not finding surety as directed in letters of horning No. GD86/282. The king therefore commands that the warden of the West Marche, the sheriff of Drumfreis, the provost and bailies of the burgh of Drumfreis and other judges and ministers of law be charged to search for and take the said rebels and to keep them in "sure firmance and captivitie" till they should be brought and presented to his justice and deputies. Given under the Signet at Haliruidhous 24th May 1587 |
