Title |
Assignation by William, commendator of the Priory of Pettinweme, who had right by Gift under the privy seal (dated at Halyrudehous 13 February 1583-84) to the superplus of all benefices within the realm omitted and as yet not given up in rental, constituting and ordaining Sir David Lyndsay of Edzell, knight, his cessioner and assignee in and to the superplus of the parsonage and vicarage of Ferne (pertaining to Mr Patrik Mure, parson thereof) lying in the diocese and sheriffdom of Forfar, and to the above royal gift so far as it extends to the said parsonage. Witnesses, Williame Hendersoun, constable depute, James Henrysoun and Johnne Young, servitors of the granter, and Waltir Henrysoun, writer. (Signed) Pettynwem.
The seal is impressed on red wax on the paper, but has almost disappeared. It was from this impression that Laing described the seal. (Vol. II No. 941). |
