Title |
Contract between Dame Elizabeth Hwme, prioress of the abbey of St. Bothanis, and Alexander Hwme of Hwtounhall, whereby the prioress discharges Hwme of his intromissions as factor and chamberlain with the revenues of the priory prior to the date hereof, with the exception of the teinds of Wawchtoun and Cokburnspeth, and constitutes him her assignee during her lifetime in and to the mails and duties of the following priory lands viz:- St. Bothanis otherwise called Thretty Aikeris, Frampetht and Hardissillis with corn and walk milns thereof (extending to 20 merks money yearly), Blakirstone (£20), the half lands of Quixwod (6 merks), the 2 husbandlands lying in Stentoun laboured by Williame Wod of the New Myln (40s.) the 2 husbandlands lying within the Mains of Kynmergem (40s), a husbandland lying in Nanewar (20s), a husbandland in Cokburnspeth (13/4), 2 acres of land in Dwns (6/8d), the Mwremedo in Billy (16s), an acre of land in Popill with an onstead (5s), a half husbandland with the pertinents in Buttirdane (6/8), and a house and half an acre of land in Belhavin (18s); he relieving her of one-third of the said mails at the hands of the Collector General as aftermentioned. She is also to grant to him (1) letters of factory and procuratory in rem suam if necessary and (2) a letter of tack, under the subscription manual of herself and the convent and with the chapter seal of the priory, of the teinds of the lands of St. Bothanis called Thretty Aikeris, Quixwod, Hardissillis and Frampet lying in the parish of St. Bothanis and sheriffdom of Berwik for such period and duty as he shall think expedient, provided the duty is not less than £20. Hume is to pay (1) to Dame Jonet Craw, a member of the convent, the sum of £20 during her lifetime, (2) to the Collector General, the Kirk and the ministry 20 bolls oats and 1 boll bear assigned to the minister of St. Bothanis furth of the teinds of the lands of Quixwod during the said tack and also one-third of the duties of the above lands, and (3) to the prioress at the delivery of the tack the sum of (torn) thousand merks (caetera desunt).
