Title |
Letters of Reversion by Androw Cowane, merchant, burgess of Striveling, granting that an annualrent of 100 merks sold to him by Johne Cunnynghame of Drumquhassill, with consent of Issobell Cunynghame, his spouse, furth of the lands of Bothhaldy, lying in the sheriffdom of Striveling by annexation, and furth of the lands of Drumquhassill, lying in the said sheriffdom, in warrandice thereof, should be redeemable by payment of the sum of 1000 merks Scots ("stampit plakis and stampit pennyis being exceptit") in the Haly Bluid Ile situated in the parish kirk of Striveling, on forty days warning. It is provided that consignation, if necessary, should be in the hands of the provost, one of the bailies, the thesaurar or dean of guild of the burgh of Striveling and that it should not be lawful to redeem the annualrent for 2 years after 20 May 1580, the date of the charter to the granter.
