Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of Walter Watsone, clerk of the diocese of Glasgow, notary public, following upon and narrating a precept of sasine in a feu charter (dated at Dunbartane and Sanct Andros 1st and 8th January 1579-80) by Cuthbert Conynghame, provost of the Collegiate Church of Dunbartane, Mr. Allan Stewart, Mr William Houstoun, Sir Andrew Robesone, Sir Colin Schaw and Sir John Cuke, prebendaries of the said College, with consent of Robert, Earl of Levenox, patron of the said provostry, granting to John Conynghame of Drumquhassill (1) the place or manor in which the predecessors of the said provost formerly dwelt, with the yards and orchards thereof, together with a long rood of land next adjacent to the yard or orchard of the said provost lying in the burgh of Dunbartane between the lands of Mathew Palmer on the south, the common vennels leading from the market cross and the parish church of the burgh on the east and west, and the Water of Levin on the north; (2) five short roods of land lying in the said burgh on the west side of the common vennel leading from the market cross to said Collegiate Church, between the lands of John Scot on the north, and the lands of James Smollett on the south; (3) two short roods of land lying on the west side of the said common vennel, between the lands of John Smollett on the south, and the lands of .......... on the north; (4) four short roods of land called Buchannis-zard [Buchannanis-zaird] lying on the west side of said common vennel between the lands of Patrick Law on the north, and the lands of William Schaw on the south; (5) a short rood of land lying on the east side of the High Street of said burgh, between the lands of David Robesone on the north, and the lands of St. Ninian, then in the hands of Donald Campbell of Woltoun, on the south; (6) two short roods of land lying in the burgh green on the south side of the High Street between the lands of the said John Smollett, occupied by him, on the east, west and south: (7) two acres of land lying in the said green, on the .... side of the High Street, between the lands of the said John Smollett on the west, and the lands occupied by Robert Sempill of Corruth and James Grugie, his tenant, on the east; (8) one-half of an acre of land lying in the Hill between the lands of John Eldare of Hill on the south and the lands of Mathew Fallisdell on the north; (9) another half acre of land in the Murrocht on the north side of the High Street between the lands of ...........; and (10) the lands of Marieland lying within the liberty and territories of the said burgh on the north side of the common way leading to the common moor of the burgh, between the lands of the said Robert Sempill of Corruth, occupied by him and James Eldare and Patrick Makkie, his tenants, on the east, west and south. Sasine given by Robert Buntene, brother german of William Buntene of Ardoch, to the said John Conynghame, upon the ground of the foresaid lands, on 4th and 5th April, 1580 |
