Title |
Charter of Resignation by George Gib of Lumphoy, the king's principal bailie of his port and lands commonly called Newhevin, granting to Mr James Wardlaw, son and heir-apparent of John Wardlaw, burgess of Edinburgh, and Mariot Scott, his future spouse, and the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment, and the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them, whom failing, to the lawful and nearest heirs and assignees of the said Mr. James, three acres of land with their pertinents, which formerly pertained to the late George Thomsoun lying within the bounds of the said port, in the sheriffdom of Edinburgh, between the lands of the late Thomas Hoppringill on the west, the lands of the late John Crawfurd of Bonyngtoun on the east and south, and the public highway on the north; which lands pertained to the said John Wardlaw and were resigned by him into the hands of the bailie for sasine to be given to the said Mr. James and spouse: To be held of the king in feu-farm, for payment yearly of an annualrent of 2 shillings Scots for each acre of the above three acres to the chaplain of the chapel of St. James of said lands, and rendering the services of the courts of the said port: Reserving the liferent of the said John Wardlaw.
