Letters under the privy seal of Mary, Queen of Scots, granting to Patrik Chene of Essilmonth, oy and heir of the late Patrik Chene of Essilmonth, knight, the ward and relief of the fishing called "the nynt fische" of the fishing of the Water of Ythan described in No. GD86/140, which the said deceased Patrik held in tenandry of the late George Meldrum of Fyvie, knight, who held it of the Crown in whose hands it then was by reason of ward through the death of Meldrum: with power to intromit with the mails and ferms of the fishing and to occupy it with his own cobles and nets, and prohibiting anyone from disturbing him in his occupation thereof.
