Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of Stephen Prestoune, clerk of the diocese of Glasgow, notary public, narrating that Mr. Michaell Wallace, one of the bailies of the burgh of Air, passed to two roods of land, which John Knycht, burgess of the said burgh, had in tack for 19 years from Whitsunday 1553, lying in a small portion of land of the Sandy-lands (terrarum arenarum) of the said burgh which lies nearest the sea, between an acre of land of Adam Wallace in the Vennel on the north, and two roods of land of Thomas Feyane on the south and there, by command of the council and community of the said burgh, in terms of their Act for granting the Sandylands in feu-ferm to the persons therein contained, gave sasine thereof to the said John Knycht: To be held of the provost, bailies and community of the said burgh in feu-ferm and heritage for payment annually (after the ish of the said 19 years tack) of three pence Scots for each rood of land: providing that it should not be lawful to the said John to alienate the said lands to anyone unless to a burgess dwelling in the same burgh. Done on the ground of said lands on 10th July 1557 |
