Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of John Perye, presbyter of the diocese of St. Andrews, notary public, following upon and narrating a Precept under the testimony of the Great Seal of Queen Mary (dated at Edinburgh 20th September 1553) addressed to the sheriff and his bailies of Linlithqw, and to George Hammiltoun and Patrick Richesoun, sheriffs in that part, for infefting James Hammiltoun, son and heir apparent of James Hammiltoun of Kincavill, in the lands and barony of Levinstoun, viz:- the lands of the town of Levinstoun, Cousland, Staneburne, Breich, Carmondanis, and the Mains of Levinstoun, with the peill, fortalice, manor-place, and mill thereof, lying in the barony of Levinstoun and sheriffdom of Linlithqw, which the Queen, with consent of James, Duke of Chattellarault, Earl of Arran, Lord Hammiltoun, protector and governor of the kingdom, had disponed to him; the said lands having been resigned by the said James Hammiltoun, elder, into the hands of the governor at Edinburgh. Sasine given by the said George Hammiltoun to the said James Hammiltoun, younger, on 3rd March 1553-4, in the fortalice and in the houses of William Ochiltre, elder, in Levinstoun, James Balgarvy in Carmodanis, Mariot Bischope in Cousland, Patrick Richesoun in Breich and Alexander Brysoun in Staneburne |
