Title |
Feu Charter by Robert Gib, the queen's principal bailie of her port and lands commonly called Newhavin, in favour of William Scott and Mariot Scott, his spouse, of the lands in the immediately preceding Instrument, following upon and narrating the resignation therein mentioned: To be held of the queen and her successors in feu-farm, rendering therefor yearly to the chaplain of the chapel of St. James of said lands and his successors an annual rent of 2s. Scots for each acre of the lands above conveyed, and also rendering the services of the courts of said port, and all other things which from the foundation of the port are incumbent to be done. (Signed) Robert Gib of Carruber with my hand at the pen script. per me dominum. Jacobus Dennestoun de mandato dicti Roberti quia nescientis se scribere. Ita est Jacobus Dennestoun notarius publicus ac testis in premissis manu propria subscriptum.
It is stated in the testing clause that the charter is signed by Alexander Maknele, depute bailie, giver of sasine of said lands, in token of the execution of his office, but this has not been done. The common seal of the port is appended. |
