Title |
Instrument of Resignation and Sasine under the hand of Andrew Brounhill, of the diocese of St. Andrews, notary public, narrating that George Thomsone, indweller in the town of Leith, with consent of Jonet Logane, his spouse, resigned his three acres of land with their pertinents, lying within the bounds of the port of Newhavin, within the sheriffdom of Edinburgh, between the lands of the late Thomas Hoppringill on the west, the lands of the late John Craufurd of Bonytoun on the east and south, and the common king's highway on the north, into the hands of Alexander Maknele, depute bailie of Robert Gib, the queen's principal bailie of the port and lands of Newhavin, who thereupon gave sasine of one-half pro indiviso of said lands to William Scott, indweller in Leith, and Mariot Scott, his spouse, and the longer liver of them and the heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated between them, whom failing, to the lawful and nearer heirs or assignees of the said William whomsoever in terms of a charter to be granted to them: Moreover the said Jonet Logane compeared in presence of the said depute bailie, outwith the presence of her husband, and, uncompelled and of her own free will, gave her express consent on oath never to revoke the same in time coming. Done upon the ground of the said lands on 27th January 1544-5 |
