Title |
Feu Charter by Sir Nicholas Ros, chaplain of the chaplainry of Dunskaith situated within the Collegiate Church of Thayne of St. Duthac the Confessor, with consent of Mary, Queen of Scots, patron of the said chaplainry, James, Earl of Arran, Lord Hammyltoun, her tutor and protector and governor of the kingdom, Robert, bishop of Ross, Mr. John Thorntoun, precentor of Moray and provost of the said Collegiate Church, and the prebendaries thereof, granting to Nicholas Ros and the heirs male to be lawfully procreated of his body, whom failing, to William Ros, his brother german, and the heirs male to be lawfully procreated of his body, whom failing, to Donald Ros, his brother german, and the heirs male to be lawfully procreated of his body, whom failing, to Thomas Ros, his brother german, and the heirs male to be lawfully procreated of his body, whom failing, to the eldest heir female of the said Thomas Ros, whom all failing to his heirs or assignees whomsoever, the lands of Dunskaith, with their pertinents, lying in the lordship of Ardmannach and sheriffdom of Innernes, and an annualrent of 2 merks Scots furth of the freight and profits of the port and passage of the Queen's Ferry of Cromatye, which lands and annualrent with their pertinents pertain to the granter as the patrimony and property of the foresaid chaplainry and extends annually in his rental in ferms, grassums, arages, carriages, and other profits to the sum of 18 merks Scots: To be held of the granter and his successors as chaplains of the chaplainry of Dunskaith, rendering annually therefor the sum of 20 merks Scots, (being an increase of 2 merks on said rental) and a double thereof on the entry of heirs and assignees thereto, and also building and maintaining upon said lands a sufficient house with other necessary policies.
