In dorso: (I) Certificate by Andro Rychardsoun, mair depute of the said sheriffdom, that on 4th May he charged the said Patrik Chene and Mr James Berclay to compear day and place above written; and that on 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 19th May he charged George Meldrum of Fywe, David Gordoun of Cauchok, William Strachauclim of Tibbirtaw, Arthur Turing in Sauchok, Alexander Buchquhane of Auchmakoy, William Setoun of Meldrum, William Lesk of that Ilk, William King of Barroch, George Crawfurd of Feddraich, William Cravfurd, his son and apparent heir, Walter Ogiluy of Boyne, George Abercromy of Birkynbog, Mr. Alexander Ogiluy of Glassauch, James Stevart of Baddinspynk, Archibald Mawmursoun in Petchandlie, William Keyth in Myddiltoun, Johne Keyth of Northfield, William Hay in Braklaw, Johne Pantoun of Petmeddan, William Wdny of that Ilk, Johne Hay in Manye, Walter Wauss in Litle Drumquhendill, Alexander Menzes in Wattirtoun, Alexander Rutherfurd, burgess of Aberdene, Johne Rutherfurd and David Menzes, burgesses of Aberdene, Mr. Andro Tullidaff of Ranestoun, Duncan Mar, burgess of Aberdene, Thomas Chalmer of Cultis, Andro Wod of Fynnarse, Thomas Tullocht of Montcoffer, Patrik Meldrum of [Eden ?], Robert Allardess of Baddinskot, Thomas Ardess in Chusne, Johne Allardess of that Ilk, William Keyth in Litle Haddocht, Robert Stevart of Latheris, Alexander Gardyn of Durlatheris, David Cruickschank of Darley, Johne Meldrum alias Marchymond Herald, Alexander Chalmer of Balnacrag, Robert Maitland of Auchincreiff and James Gordoun in Cragy to compear, said day and place, upon said inquest under penalty of £20 for each person. Witnesses, David Auld and Johne Allan. (II) Certificate by the said Andro Rychardsoun that on 19th May 1542 he charged Walter Lyndesay in Ellon, David Tailzour in Torneischo, Andro Myll at the Myll of Auchterellon, John Pery there, William Smyth in Auchterellon, Johne Walcar, David Zovng, Johne Tailzour, James Annand in Cwikistoun, George Logy there, Andro Forsyth in Hiltoun, Patrick Wmfra in Creheid, Alexander Cattov in Ellon, Andro Cattov in Logy, Alexander Hardy, Adam Cruikschank in Feithill, Johne Craig in Ellon, Jaimes Gorner and Alexander Hunter to compear as witnesses said day and place under a penalty of £20. Witnesses, David Auld and Johne Allan. (III) Minute of Court (dated 20 May 1542) narrating that Patrick Cheyne of Essilmont produced the above precept "in jugment" of the sheriff principal and his deput at the cruif wall of Ythan and desired "process" conform to the same; that after certain exceptions proponed against the same by Mr. James Barclay, John Hay in Glakreaucht, as sheriff in that part, produced royal letters obtained by John, Abbot of Deir, and the convent thereof and charged the sheriff and his deputes to continue the matter contained in the precept to 16th June and that the sheriff continued the matter to the 19th as he could not keep the former date.
