Title |
Instrument of Sasine (much injured by damp) under the hand of John Howe, presbyter of the diocese of Glasgow, notary public, following upon and narrating a Precept under the testimony of the Great Seal of King James V. (dated at Edinburgh 5th March 1539-40) directed to his sheriffs and bailies of Ayr and Renfrew, his bailie of Cwningham, and their deputes, and to Laurence Lachlan, his sheriffs in that part, for infefting David Cwninghame of Robertland, his heirs and assignees, in the lands of Bartaneholme, the lands of Snodgers, with the commonty of the same in the commonty of Irwin, the fishing on the water of Garnok, seven acres called Seven-acres, the lands of Ovir-Robertland, with the castle and fortalice thereof, the lands of Ovir-Lochrig, Horsmvre and Lochsyd of Bwistovin, with the part of the loch corresponding thereto, the mill of Bwistovin with the "suckin" and "thirle multir", the 11 merklands of old extent of Lochriggis, 2 merks of annual rent from the customs of the Burgh of Irwin, the lands of Wattirland, Hacket and Hesilbank, with the mill and lochs thereof, the lands of Cassiltoun with the mill and pertinents, the 10 merk 12 shilling and 4 penny lands of old extent under written, viz: the 5 merklands of Ovir-Lamrochtoun, the 4 merk 20 penny lands called Bwistovin, the 6s. 8d. lands called Arnottis-Boddum, with the meadow thereof, the 17s. 4d. lands of Langmvr, and the lands of Fwlschawis, with the advocation of the churches and chapels of the whole of said lands, lying in the bailiary of Cwningham and sheriffdom of Air; and one-seventh part of the lands of Auchinbothy called Castel-wallis, with the lochs thereof, lying in the barony and sheriffdom of Renfrew; which lands the said David Cunynghame resigned at Edinburgh into the hands of the King, who, for the good services rendered to him by the said David incorporated the said lands (except Foulschawis) into the barony of Robertland, ordaining the castle and fortalice of Robertland to be the "chymmes" thereof.
