Title |
Charter of Resignation (fragment) under the Great Seal of King James V. granting to David Craufurd of Kers and Katherine Hammyltoun, his spouse, daughter of William Hammyltoun of Sanquhare, the lands of Annehan, one-half of the lands of Litill Selloch, the lands of Auchinreoch and Glenheid with the mill of Carrikmure, the lands of Balthomas, Kilbride, Hoggistoun, and the one-half merklands of Bire of Thomastoun, extending to ten pound lands of old extent, with one-half of the mill thereof, lying in the bailiary of Carrik and sheriffdom of Aire; which lands the said David (with consent of Patrick Maxwell of Newwerk, George Craufurd of Lefnoreis, Thomas Corre of Kelwod and Duncan Craufurd, his curators), resigned at St. Andrews into the hands of the King, who, for the good services of the said David, ordained that sasine taken at Hoggistoun should stand for the whole: To be held of the King as Earl of Carrik and prince of Scotland to the said David and Katherine and the longer liver of them in conjunct infeftment and the heirs male lawfully procreated between them, whom failing, to David Craufurd, brother german of the late Bartholomew Craufurd of Kers, and the heirs male lawfully procreated of his body, whom failing to Duncan Craufurd, brother of the said Bartholomew, and the heirs male lawfully procreated of his body, whom failing to Robert Craufurd, brother german of the said Bartholomew, and the heirs male lawfully procreated of his body, whom failing, to the lawful and nearer heirs male of the said David Craufurd of Kers whomsoever, rendering therefor four bolls of wheat and a pair of white spurs in name of blench ferm.
