Title |
(1) Certificate by William Duncan, Lt.Col. 1st Battalion Royals, that John Thompson, late corporal in the 1st Battn. of the 1st (or the Royal) Regt. of Foot, died in the island of St. Domingo on 20 December 1796, and was entitled to prize-money for the taking of Port-au-Prince on the said island on 4 June 1794. Stirling Castle, 20 September 1797. (2) Certificate by Alexander E. Millar, minister and Robert [blank], J.P., that the said John Thomson was the son of James Thomson, labourer in Milntoun in parish of Kilmaurs and county of Ayr, and that he died unmarried without leaving children. Kilmaurs manse, 30 September 1797. (3) Letter from the said James Thomson to Major Cuninghame, 70th Regt., Swaffham, asking him to collect the said prize-money. Milntoun, 9 October 1797. (4) Letter from John Cuninghame to the said Major asking him to help the said James, discussing farm produce prices, and giving news of the location of various members of the family.
