(1) Letter from John Peebles to his father, John, in Irvine telling him of his passage from Greenock to Boston and from Boston to Halifax in convoy, and expressing the hope that the rebels will soon be defeated. Halifax harbour, 29 June 1776. (2) Letter as above telling of the sailing of an expedition under Brig.Gen. Arnold, supposedly for Chesapeake Bay, and of mutinies in the rebel army and British attempts to take advantage of them. New Town, Long Island, 27 January 1781. |
