Description |
Dated at Achnaba. 1692, May 28. Comments on the fact that 'it seemes Lochanell hath gotten his interest in this parisch to be joyned to Midd Lorne, Ardchattan and Ineresragan joynes with Mukarne, wherfore its necessare that wee be joyned to Glenurchay', and discusses steps to be taken.
Appended is 'the list of the men and armes in the lands of Achnaba lyfrented by Bathia Murray' (Achnaba's mother).
1699, January 2. Gives advice on estate matters, including supply of building materials, such as tar from Maryburgh.
Also discusses proposed marriage between 'a sone of Patrick McHair in Port an Elan at Lochdochart', and 'James Ardchattans uncles his daughter'.
1699, November 27. Comments on disaster which has befallen the 'folks' of Achnacroise - five men killed in a shipwreck. He has sent his sons away to Edinburgh, to 'Patrick'; 'give them a strict charg to mynd ther studies, a word from yow possibly may have more weight then many from me, being they are so accustomed to my constant repitations'.
1705, July 30. Explains he proclaimed the marriage banns of 'these parties' before receipt of Barcaldine's letter, 'for I thought that safest, and not to be put on the book of no proclamationes, for they are very strict now in that case'.
1715, May 6. On domestic subjects, 'I gave a purg yesterday to Lauchlan, but it wrought not so well as I expected'; discusses a financial affair. |
