Dated at Ardsheall. 1723, February 18. Regarding a summons he has received to appear before the justices of the peace at Inveraray in March for non-payment of excise. "I did see your name in his list, and am surprysed that his list is not more generall ... I beleive this duty is not payed any where, and for my own part I doe not inclyne to be singulat ..."
1724, February 7. Wishing to know "how faire yow are made wise in that mater of the oaths ..." Also reminding recipient of his promise to lend him some money. |
