Description |
Dated at Renfrew. 1725, July 9. Enclosing account for goods despatched. " ... we have a greate disturbance here about the Malt tacks but ther is not but ye have hade it longe agoe and the Bearer can inform you as well as I ..."
1725, August 19. About the loading of William Breason's bark with timber. "Give him the scantline of the plank and desire him to take it on board, and cause measure as much timber as fill him up ... yow and I shall then clear accounts ..."
1725, October 23. Explaining why the goods have been so long delayed in transit. Alexander Chalmers' ship, the Jenet of Renfrew, sailed from Greenock on August 27th for the garrison of Lochaber, but he has since heard from one William Montgomrie at Lairn [or Laira?] that the ship was stranded "on that point" at night, and that "ther is much of the goods damnified ... I do not doubt that the feathers and suggare will be goun with the watter ..."
Asks that timber should be ready by Martinmas.
List of goods despatched "for Bargalden and on his risque" attached.
1725, November 17. "I desire ye may cause your tennants to gett the timber squaired and drawn down against Candlemass or March ... try if they can get me two thousand greenaills at thirty inches long per ps and I will pay them as much as I pay for them at Lochabber ..."
1736, March 13. Regarding the wish of certain coopers to buy some hoop wood from recipient. |
