Description |
Gives his view on what Daniel, recipient's son, should now do, now that he has finished his studies. Dated at Edinburgh. 'His goeing to Jamaica without any view of a good settlement I really think is very precarious ... for I am credibly informed ... that the Island is much over stockt with gentlemen of our profession ... His goeing to London is certainly a more sure way getting into business ... getting either a mateship in the navy, East India Service, or Surgeoncy to a west India ship ... the sooner he goes to London it will be so much the better ...' |
