Dated at Baligoun. 1734, August 9. Asking for repayment of small sum lent in 1733 to recipient's son, Donald in Edinburgh "... I have lately seen your mother and she is most anxious to see you at Clinamairie. She wrote yow lately and takes it ill that yow neglected to send hir ane answer to her letter ..."
1734, December 2. Forwarding message from recipient's mother who "assured me in the strongest manner that she wanted money to provide her the common necessaries for her person ..." Unless recipient pays the 800 merks owing to her, she will take legal action to recover it.
1735, February 13. Warns him that his mother's patience is almost gone, and that unless he sends her some money, she will "endeavour to redress herself by law". |
