1724, 1729. Dated at Edinburgh. 1723/4, February 25. Agreeing to proposal that bail bonds may be taken with regard to 'the prisoners lately sent from Glenorchy to Finlarigg ... We desire earnestly that you'l make the best use yow possibly can of this occasion to spirit up the people of character to be hearty and earnest in their endeavours to restrain theft in that country'.
1729, January 7, to Barcaldine alone. Re complaints against Irish who have brought the woods of Glenorchy, for cutting more than was agreed on in the contract, giving Barcaldine authority to act as the earl's steward and baillie and asking him to make his report to them in writing. |
