'I entreat ye may strive to be att Londone as soone as Lochele and deall as effectuallie as ye can with My Lord in my behalf ... My brother Sandie hes put upon me to intreatt ye may mind My Lord to endeavir to gett him ane Capts. comissione amongst the forces'.
1701, September 26.
Assures Barcaldine that none of his men have stolen horses from him; all three suspects are willing to swear that they are innocent, 'I doe declare upon my word I would not vindicat them or any els that would be guilty of stealling from you but on the contrare that I would be as forvard to sie yow gett justice from all such as I'm concerned in as if it ver my own caise'. 1711 (? or 1701), May 29. Writer's cousin Tulloch tells him that he wishes to speak to Barcaldine about his sister, Kenloch's relict, 'I know the Gentleman vants not meritt eneugh to deserve a Gentlewoeman'. |
