Description |
Accounts and other papers relating to Glenure as lieutenant in Captain Sir Harry Munro's company in Lord Loudon's regiment of foot. Including a letter from Robertson of Strowan (to Glenure); 'I own Generall Copes night-Gown with some other trifles not worth naming, as belonging to a Generall, fell into-my hands at Edinburgh the night after the first Battle [Prestonpans], not forgeting his chese [chaise]. The Chese was return'd, at Commissary Bisset's desire, and now at yours I send you the Gown; Sir as you think Restitution is Reasonable, you must own I should expect the like for my poor niece Mary, who was altogether as harmless as Generall Cope'. Carie 24 August, 1746. |
