Description |
1819, October 29. `Edinburgh ... has been extremely gay and very full of company during the festival and race weeks ... I went to one of the morning concerts with Mrs. Dennistoun, the music was certainly most sublime, it was Handel's Mesiah.'
1820, April 3. `Lord John Campbell's marriage with Miss Glassels is now a fixed thing as they have already been proclaimed in church. It is said that it was Mr. Logan who declined the honour of his alliance on the state of Lord John's affairs being submitted to him. To Miss Logan however I should think it caused some little mortification his lordship so soon making another choice.'
1826, April 27. This letter contains a playing card, the king of clubs, handcoloured
