Description |
Dated at Fassfern, Callart. 1828, October 12. Announces death of his father that morning after a few days' illness [at the age of 90].
1832, February 22. 'If anything could remove my political bias so far as to induce me to vote for a whig candidate, it would be an application from you, but I cannot describe how much I disapprove of the Reform Bill, and notwithstanding my great respect and friendship for you I will make every exertion that my health will admit of to go and vote for a tory candidate. It is true that I voted for Mr. Grant but I did not then know his politics, and my brother and other relations were so much obliged to him that I could not well at that time vote against him'. |
