Has been to see Loch Katrine and was much gratified by the beauty of the scenery, but 'the people of Glasgow are the rudest bears I ever met with, and in walking the streets you run a great risk of being upset by their running against you'.
----, August 22. Huntly. Explains he cannot pay Barcaldine a visit as he intends to return to London for the coronation [? of George IV]; 'I am going today for two days over to Gordon Castle, the Duke has been exceedingly kind and civil to us'.
