1808, November 18. Thanks Mary Campbell for a mourning ring in rememberance of John Campbell, her son.
'You would see my brother Alexander's marriage in the papers. I could have wished he had prefered a Scotch woman but he wrote me this had been an attachment of three years standing'.
1809, August 30. Is glad to hear that Duncan is safe after dreadful battle of Talavera, having had two horses shot under him.
1813, April 19. Asks Mrs. Campbell to buy her 'a stout black chip or straw bonnet large and plain for wearing about the doors, with black ribbons to tye it down'
