1787, March 19. Relates particulars of a melancholy affair that happened yesterday - his estranged wife came to his house, attempted to poison his father with arsenic, and when this failed, killed herself with it. 'I immediatly sent for a surgeon and convened all the Neighbours and as providence was kind to me she made an open confession of everything about it and told how she came by it' 1787, 1794.
