1787, March 19. Relates particulars of a melancholy affair that happened yesterday - his estranged wife came to his house, attempted to poison his father with arsenic, and when this failed, killed herself with it. 'I immediatly sent for a surgeon and convened all the Neighbours and as providence was kind to me she made an open confession of everything about it and told how she came by it'
