Description |
1784, February 21. In rather mysterious terms apparently relating to recipient's forthcoming marriage; 'there was a person here two nights ago who dreamed that you had a most exelint head of hair, was drest in a blew coat, (and) whit [waistcoat], which they say is a sign of marriage'.
1786, January 16. Asks advice what to do with Jack, as he is wasting his time at Latin when writer cannot afford to bred him to divinity or physic.
1786, December 20. Has had a letter from her son, John, asking her approbation for his proposal to enter the weaving business, as he had already spoken to Mr. Dale about it, who had said that he would bind John to a brother of his own, where he might either bind himself for a number of years without paying any money, or pay £20 and have his own work and be at liberty when he pleased; asks Barcaldine's advice on which course to take, and to write to Mr. Dale on the subject
Dated at Glenure. |
