1775, March 1. Wishes to hear of Alexander's marriage 'to a Rich Young Lady, of a Good Family, good character, Handsom, but not too much of Understanding'
1782, February 9. 'Our worthy earl' was buried, 'attended by thirty gentlemen and about seven hundred commoners. All public works are stop'd at Taymouth and elsewhere till a meeting of the earl's trustees which is to hapen some time next month in Edinburgh'.
1784, February 14. Congratulations on Barcaldine's approaching marriage; is glad his sudden departure for the low countries was not occasioned by some 'fopa' of writer's.
1791, July 14. Is able to walk only with a staff, but 'why complean when [I] am the sivinth oldest now living of the Parabeg Family'.
26 January 1792. Wishes Barcaldine to recommend writer's nephew to David Dale.
9 February 1793. 'Poor Donald MacKinzie [I] am told has lost being Postmaster at Inveraray for disposing of some of Mr. Pin's [Paine's] Publications, and also the Duke's brewer has been warn'd for talking against his Majesty and having publicly spok of liberty and Equality'
