1775, January 23. Informs recipient that their father has bought the estate of Barcaldine at £24,000, 'a bold stroke but if he can wathe it a noble affair and will be the only thing to keep the ballance between us and Lochnell family ... The taking of the title of Barcaldine had very near overturned the bargain but all was settled by your father's agreeing not to take'.
