Dated at Glenure. 14 April 1767. Their uncle, McPherson, has made matters up, in the Glenure family for a time; she thinks recipient is out of favour with their mother, although their father still semms in a good humour with him.
5 June 1767. 'Dougall is maried to Annie and she was thaken ill of a fever the marrig day and is ill ever since'.
8 March 1768. Her mother has announced that she intends to leave this place; if recipient and his uncle do not get her a settlement she intends to go to law for it.
3 letters with 2 scroll answers lamenting that there never was a family in greater confusion or less harmony; feels his own position is intolerable as he is forced to play the hypocrite to both parents, 'as there is no pleasing the one without seeming to think ill of the other' |
