Wishes post of surveyor of customs and landwaiter at Campbelltown, and hopes that Barcaldine will recommend him to Duke of Argyll; relates particulars of interview with the Duke in 1782, when writer waited on him to thank him for appointing him as town clerk, at Inveraray, 'I sent in my name, he came out immediately, and conversed with me for a Quarter of an Hour upon various subjects in the Dining Room'. Dated at Campbelltown. |
