Description |
23 March. Does not think he will be called upon to rejoin the regiment at once.
20 April. Is anxious about Mally Campbell, wife of Alexander Campbell, illegitimate son of Duncan Campbell of Glenure, who is in a starving condition at Cork, while her husband is on a wildgoose chase at Jamaica; enquires how he could have left her as he did, 'after he had such experience of her extravagence and folly'.
18 May. Is sorry he has quarrelled with Glenure, his father, thinks his conduct to his son has been unnatural and cruel in the greatest decree; however recommends a proper behaviour, and urges him to ingratiate himself again into Glenure's affections; he is old and may be expected to have some stings of conscience as old age creeps upon him; agrees the will is an extraordinary one
