9 January, 1786. 'About the weaving business I am willing to take it if you think that you and my uncle would (gi)ve me money to set up when I would be done of my appren(ticeship) but if no as to be a journeyman for ever and begine at 5 or 6 in the morning and not Give over till 10 or 11 at night and may be have but 10 or 12 Shillings a week at most I would rather taken any business for Going abroad with than work for ever like that'
27 February 1787. Has apprenticed himself as a weaver at £10 prentice fee and gets what he earns except 2d in the shilling; his hours being 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
