Description |
Re farms of Salachan and Craig, 1783. 22 January 1784. This letter is endorsed with a scroll letter from Alexander Campbell of Barcaldine, proposing marriage; urging that his love for the unnamed woman is 'of so pure and disinterested a nature as to prefer your happiness to his own, which in this selfish age is perhaps not so common as the goodness of your own heart'. If she refuses this offer, she may return him this letter, which 'will perhaps be as easy a method as you can take of sending me my death-warrant'. Dated at Salachill etc. |
