Description |
Dated at Borland, Barcaldine, Fort William. 16 June 1753. To Glenure in Edinburgh. Asks him to send by the bearer 4 dozen of bitter 'orangers'. Laments that 'al the geardine sides not wane growing but a few carrot'.
28 June 1753. 'I have sent by the bearer a shiperdess and coat for Lusie to be mead for hir'.
1757, January 22. Borland.
Sends 4 plain shirts by the post.
27 February 1757.
'Ther is Gread Deale of Rain hear this 8 days past and snow and the smail pockes are in Disher and fine pockes is ever was sine in this Countrie upwards of 30 Have teaking it and not wane dead of it'.
1778, January 23. Barcaldine.
'I wis you would bring me home a black gown as the one I have is gon into tattars'.
1780, January 9. Fort William.
'Dunkie' has been innoculated; wishes Glenure to send little Nany with 2 jelly bowls, as much fresh butter as he can spare, and 6 good fowls.
n.d. 'You'l be so kind as by me as much calligo as will make a gown and coat warm for the winter and 2 bed gowns. I promis'd Miss Peggy either a nightgown of silk or a negligi and coat of calligo of which I thoucht her very well for two years service, if it be silk send it reed ... P.S. send Mally a blak kape'. |
