Description |
Dated at Stirling. Re affairs of Glenure's brother (Robert) who has died bankrupt; two of the men he appointed as executors have refused to accept, thus leaving writer and Mr. William Adam in the Adelphi, London, as executors; writer feels that if Robert had confined himself to his paving business he would have died rich, but his other scheme, including the colonising plan at St. John's Island in the Gulf of St. Laurence, have ruined him, as £11,000 is sunk there, 'in a word his affairs are in the greatest confusion, and many people will be ruined or sorely hurt by him' |
