Description |
175[-]-74. Dated at London, Taymouth.
1773, May 15. Wishes Glenure to vote for Graham of Balgowan in election of 1773, 'The Duke of Atholl having set up his brother Colonel Murray, it will be a hard contested point, and unless all the Campbells unite the name will make a poor figure, for nothing but unanimity can create respect. If we are beat upon this occasion, we may give up all weight in that county. Our name had the honour of carrying the Election ten years ago, it will be our own faults if we loose it now'.
1774, August 6. 'As to your letters, all I will say is that there is not a word of Truth in them ... It is also false that you did not know that I procured from the Treasury the Expences of the Trial of the murderer of your Brother; for I can prove your being inform'd that you owe'd it to me'.
7 letters with 16 scroll answers from Glenure defending his conduct against Breadalbane's charges of 'want of honour ingratitude and falshoo |
