Description |
Dated at Greenock. 1775, August 2.
'The enclos'd came last night by a vessell from Boston; in which came between 30 and 40 passengers with their families, who have fled from the unhappy troubles in that quarter. I have often seen and heard of Scots emigrants to America, but never until now of American emigrants to Scotland ... The American orator leader and demigog Doctor Warren was killed in the action; upon our men coming up to the trenches, one of ou officers seeing the little son of a b---h running off from behind the trenches poped him down like a wood-cock. O! for Hancock, Adams, Putma etc, sharing the like fate!'
1777, March 1.
Gives news of Glenure's son in America, all of whom are doing well especially Sandy, whose success is due to his own merit and spirited behaviour on Bunker's Hill. |
