Special retour, at Wigton in presence of Sir Andrew Agnew of Lochnaw, sheriff. The assize composed of William McCulloch of Myrtoun, George Murray of Brouchtoun, William Gordon of Creichlaw, Archibald Kennedy of Barnekirk, John Brown, yr. of Caslaith (sic), Hugh Gordon of Grange, Alex. Agnew of Ardoche, James McCulloch of Drummorrell, William Gordon of Clone, Wm. Agnew in Barmell, Henry McCulloch in Airlair, Robert Hannay in Boighous, Gilbert Gordon of Polmallart, John McCulloch of Torhous and Henry Gordon of Creich, -found that George Gordon of Barskeoch, was heir to his uncle the deceast Alexander Gordon of Barskeoch who died in September last in the 3 merkland of Auchnacht, Carngayne and Inshankis in the parish of Kirkmadin the 5 merkland of Clonyard and its mill, the 5 merklands of Portincorkie, 5 merklands of Corachtie and 2½ merklands of Cairn, 5 merkland of Kirkbryd and ½ of the 5 merkland of Drumore in the same parish, the 3 merkland of Cairnmultiburgh in parish of Inch and 5 merkland of Kildonan and certain annualrents. Kirkbryd was held of John McDowell of Logan and Drumore of Laurence Gordon, patron of Glenluce, Cairnmultiburgh of John McDowell of Garthland and Kildonan of Wm. Adair of Kinhilt. The rest were held of the Crown |
